Should you upgrade your ram?

Ram is a very important part of a PC or a laptop. Whether you should upgrade your ram or not, it totally depends on what type of work you mostly use your device for.

Ram is the fastest storage ( after CPU cache ) in a PC. It is used to store those data which are frequently used by your processor or needs to be accessed frequently.

If you are a casual gamer or if you just use your device for coding then you might not need more RAM. If you have 8 GB DDR 4 RAM then it would be enough to handle your gaming and coding workload.

If you are competitive gamer then you might consider upgrading your RAM to 16 GB for a way better experience. It is better to use 2x 8 GB RAM than using 1x 16 GB RAM. By doing this you can distribute the workload between two RAM.

In my opinion you should not consider upgrading to more than 16 GB RAM as this amount is enough to support all your workload.

But if your work is mainly based upon video editing or animation rendering and you have very limited time to complete your project then you should consider upgrading it to 32 GB. As these type of work require more data to be accessed frequently, you may not require more RAM necessarily but upgrading your RAM could benefit you a lot.

But if you keep upgrading then also it becomes unworthy as your performance per cost decreases with each upgrade.

So upgrade your RAM based upon your workload and before buying RAM make sure to know what maximum RAM your processor supports. If your processor doesn't support higher RAM then you might have to upgrade your CPU too.
