How to know if your laptop storage can be upgraded or not?
Knowing your maximum storage device support is easier than you might expect.
First you have to restart your laptop and then you have to enter the boot menu. Each laptop has different key to enter to boot menu. For many of the laptops it is generally delete key. As your laptop starts enter the boot menu, that should look like this:
As you can see in the image that it will show all information about storage of your laptop. You can check here how many empty SATA slot your laptop have. Each SATA slot can be connected to a hard disk or to a SSD. The laptop used in the picture can be upgraded with another storage device as it has another empty Serial ATA slot.
If your laptop had M.2 slots then it would be also visible there.
Now once you have checked that you can upgrade your storage and hence you upgraded, so now it is important to make sure that your new hardware is recognized by your system. You can again check the boot menu by the above mentioned method or you can go to device manager.
Then go under the disk drive section and check that your newly upgraded storage device shows up or not.
